operas. Fugère had a long and successful career, making his
farewell in opera at age eighty-five [Don Bartolo] Le Barbiere de
Séville (1933). His voice was that of a light bass-baritone, and
he made recordings when he was past the age of fifty when he made
his first records, and past the age of eighty when he made the last
