Monnaie in Brussels under the name M. Clarence in 1898. He was Wotan in Richter's English-language Covent Garden
Ring of 1908-09. MET Opera career lasted until his
retirement in 1932.

1935 Birth of English composer clarinetist, pianist and music professor
John Nicholas MAW in Lincolnshire. He studied harmony, counterpoint and

Academy of Music from 1955 to 1958.

1955 Opening of the New Vienna Opera House. Original was damaged by Allied bombs on 12 MAR 1945. This concert celebrated the end of 17 years of foreign occupation. Karl Böhm conducted Beethoven's Fidelio at the gala re-opening.
